How to use a Chromebook Offline

You can use your Chromebook offline to work with Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides as well as downloading media files using the File Manager Program on the Chromebook. There are a few things that have to happen before you can work offline so you must be online to complete these tasks.

1 - You must install the Google Docs Offline Chrome extension

2 - You need to go to drive.google.com/drive/settings and check the box next to "Sync Google Docs, Sheets, Slides & Drawings files .....

3 - Once the above 2 steps are done you can then go to drive and right click the files you want to work with offline and then turn on "Available offline"

Here is the Google Help Article that walks you through the process or you can watch the video below.

You can also download some media files to your Chromebook especially if they are on Google Drive. Right click and choose download. At that point you can use the file manager to open the file. Please note that not every media file is compatible.

Please know that we have outdoor Wifi access points at all of our schools except New Union. New Union students should go to the Middle School.
